The Incredible Story of Lakshmi Tatma: A girl was born with eight limbs in India.
Fortunately, Dr. Sharang Patil, leading a research team of more than 30 surgeons, accepted the challenge. He realized the parents’ dream of having a four-legged-four-armed girl through a 24-hour surgery, completely free of charge, at a hospital in the southern city of Bangalore. During the surgery, Dr. Patil successfully removed the extra limbs from little Lakshmi, enabling her to have a normal body like everyone else.
After the surgery, Dr. Patil expressed, “Now she can live like all other girls.” Seeing his daughter with a normal body and recovering well, Lakshmi’s father, Shambu, was overwhelmed with emotion. He said, “We don’t know what to say; we are extremely grateful to the doctors who performed the surgery for free, helping my daughter have a normal life, despite knowing my family’s poverty.”
Lakshmi’s journey is a testament to both the belief in the divine and the advancements of medical science in India. She is a living example of resilience and the power of human compassion, demonstrating that despite facing extraordinary circumstances, with support and determination, one can thrive and lead a fulfilling life.
