Recognizing the significance of their catch, the fishermen carefully assessed the sawfish before releasing it back into the water. Dan, speaking on behalf of the fishing duo, emphasized their unintentional catch, stating, “We were not attempting to catch sawfish, but we landed it just 10 minutes after we got the bite.” He further shed light on the plight of sawfish, explaining that although certain areas have resident populations, they are by no means abundant. Due to their size and the formidable rostrum (or saw) they possess, sawfish can be dangerous if provoked. Despite this, they are typically not a threat to humans and are known for their immense strength.
Following the release of the sawfish, Dan and AJ resumed their fishing endeavors and soon found themselves reeling in a bull shark, further adding to the excitement of their eventful day on the water.
