Giant Baby Equals the Size of His Four-Year-Old Sibling
Meet 19-month-old Xaylen Asher Richard, a baby whose size his mother likens to a “happy bowling ball.”
Xaylen, who hails from Dallas, Texas, has been a cause for concern for his mother, Salitza Richard, 31, due to his rapid growth since birth. At just six months old, he was already fitting into 12-18 month-sized clothing, and now, at 19 months, he’s big enough to share clothes with his four-year-old brother Judah, even though he was a very typical eight pounds at birth.
Salitza, who works as an athletic trainer, jokingly claims that her son’s size and slow start to walking have given her a significantly stronger bicep.
Xaylen has already caught the eye of sports teams, and Salitza is confident that he will be tall when he grows up. She reminisces, “It was insane how fast he grew. He was above the 100th percentile every time we went to the doctor.”
“People will ask how we had such a big baby when we’re so petite. I’m 5’4″ and my husband is 5’9″, so we already know he will definitely be taller than us,” she adds.
“It was hilarious the first time we went to the doctor for his two-week check-up. She asked us if we were sure we had the right baby, as he always looked older for his age.”
While Salitza had concerns about Xaylen’s health due to his size, the doctor assured her that everything was perfectly fine.
Salitza affectionately describes her son as a “bowling ball,” and she believes that his size delayed his ability to walk. However, now that he’s started walking, he’s loving every moment of it. “The rate he is growing is nuts,” she says. “I had clothes from when Judah was younger that he was wearing, but I have to keep going up a size and switching so often.”
Despite the age difference, Xaylen and his older brother Judah can now wear the same size clothes, showcasing just how rapidly Xaylen is growing.
Salitza thinks that Xaylen’s size is responsible for his delayed walking, but now that he’s on his feet, it’s a game-changer. “He was so excited as well. It was crazy because it happened overnight. He started taking a few steps, and now he’s running a few days later.”
Xaylen’s robust size doesn’t hinder his energy and happiness. He’s described as a “happy baby” who loves food and isn’t picky about it. People who see him often mistake him for being older than he is due to his size, but friends and family are amazed, especially considering that his older brother was much smaller at the same age.
Xaylen’s size has even led to comical incidents, such as being questioned about his age during travel. Salitza recalls, “Once we were going on holiday, and I got stopped and asked to buy him a ticket for a seat as they didn’t believe that he was under one, let alone two years old, which is the age for a baby to have a seat on a plane.”
Furthermore, Xaylen’s size and exuberance have already caught the attention of sports enthusiasts. Salitza’s husband, who works with NFL athletes, has received suggestions to start considering Xaylen for future sports endeavors. High schools have also expressed interest in having him as a player on their teams. Salitza concludes, “It’s quite amusing.”
