Sisters Give Birth on the Same Day, Just Hours Apart
Natalie and Leanne Paulson, both 21 and hailing from Branston, Leicester, experienced an extraordinary coincidence when they welcomed their first children on the same day, just hours apart. This remarkable event occurred even though Natalie’s due date was still a week away.
The non-identical sisters, both working as care assistants and delivering their babies at Leicester Royal Infirmary, found themselves in adjacent rooms as they went into labor.
Leanne, who was already a week overdue, gave birth to an 8lb 8oz baby boy named Carter at 6:17 pm. Meanwhile, Natalie welcomed a little girl named Mila-Rose at 12:02 am, weighing 8lb 2oz.
Natalie, who resides with her partner, electrician Daniel Morgan, 28, expressed her amazement, saying, “Leanne went into labor on my due date. I knew it would be close, but I never imagined we would be in rooms next to each other giving birth. The nurses couldn’t believe it. It was an amazing experience because we’ve always shared everything.”
Leanne, who lives with her partner, plumber Robert Walker, 23, added, “I thought I’d be late going into labor but never that we’d go in on the same day.”
This unique occurrence brings to mind a similar story from April, where identical twins Tina Hammond and Louise Huckerby gave birth to their babies just hours apart in the same ward at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Furthermore, across the Atlantic last month, identical twin sisters Sarah Mariuz and Leah Rodgers, both 35, defied astronomical odds by giving birth on the same day, at the same time, in their respective time zones. Leah’s son, Reid Joseph, was born first in Denver, Colorado, on Mountain Time, followed by Sarah welcoming a daughter, Samantha Lynne, in La Jolla, California, on Pacific Time. These were the first children for both twins, who had due dates just four days apart.
While they insisted that the timing of their pregnancies was not planned, the sisters emphasized their close bond. “We’ve always lived in separate places, but all of us – we have two sisters – are very close in age and very close,” Rodgers said. “But certainly there’s another connection at the twin level.”
In an incredible twist of fate, these sisters will have their children growing up knowing they were born just hours apart. It’s a strange coincidence, but for these siblings, it’s just another chapter in a life full of shared experiences.
