Mum describes her own baby as ugly and compares him to a garden gnome
A mother claims that other parents have taken offense when she posted images of her own “funny-looking” ʙᴀʙʏ who resembled a garden gnome.
When Isaac was a Nᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴꜱ Emily Crossan of Rugeley, Staffordshire, claimed she was “blinded by love” and didn’t realize how “strange looking” he was until she was going through old images. The mother posted humorous pictures of her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 online before he developed his face, joking that he resembled a “garden gnome.”
To make other parents laugh at some of the absurd looks her ʙᴀʙʏ made, she showed the photos to a parenting group. He was a wonderful little Nᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴꜱat the moment, thought Emily, and I thought he was the most beautiful thing in the world. I didn’t have that thought till I recently started looking at old pictures.
He had such an absurd appearance and was undoubtedly the cutest infant on the planet. at the moment, motherly love had obviously blinded me. He could have passed for a garden gnome if you had given him a fishing pole and a small hat. He changed drastically as he grew into his face, becoming a real little cutie.
The intensive care nurse is accustomed to observing “funny-looking” Nᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴꜱ at work and is aware of its prevalence. He had a pretty ᴏᴅᴅ appearance when he was young, and as he grew older, he just got chunkier, Emily said. He was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 at full term, so it wasn’t due to being Pʀᴇᴍᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ either, and his dad was cute as a ʙᴀʙʏ, proving that it wasn’t a hereditary appearance.
In my line of work, I frequently encounter Nᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴꜱ that have ᴏᴅᴅ facial features; it’s just one of those things that passes. at the time, no one ever brought it up to me, but they wouldn’t dare, now would they? By the time he was six months old, he had beyond that funny-looking period as he had grown more into his face with age.
Other parents were inspired by Emily’s post to post ʜɪʟᴀʀɪᴏᴜꜱ images of their infants.
The majority of people thought it was humorous and commented that all infants appear amusing at first, and that as mothers, we are “blinded by love.” Other mothers concurred, stating that while all infants first resemble “swollen potatoes,” calling them ugly does not imply that they are not loved. Despite receiving criticism for her article, Emily refuses to “take herself too seriously” and exhorts others, particularly parents, to develop a sense of humor.
However, several people found it to be very offensive. How can you call your 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 ugly, one mom wrote on social media, calling it nasty and declaring that she was standing up for all infants who are made fun of.
I just don’t take myself too seriously because I love my son more than everything in the world, Emily remarked. When he’s older, I’m sure we’ll reflect on it and chuckle together. We’re all parents, and it’s hard job, so you have to be able to laugh about things and find the funny side of things because otherwise it would grow to be too much.
