The Miraculous Tale of Two Best Friends Welcoming Baby Girls on the Same Day.
Indie Mae and Ryatt Rae’s Heartwarming Connection from Womb to Crib
Indie Mae and Ryatt Rae may not share the bond of twins, but their extraordinary birth story is sure to touch your heart. Discover how Corey and Katie, best friends and sisters, coincidentally gave birth to their daughters on the same day and witness the unbreakable connection these little ones have formed even at such a tender age.
It’s no surprise that Indie and Ryatt are destined to be close, considering the strong bond between their mothers, Corey and Katie. Fondly referring to themselves as “sticky sisters,” the duo has always been inseparable. Now, their tradition of closeness continues with their adorable daughters, affectionately called “twin cousins.” To commemorate their shared experience of pregnancy and childbirth, Corey and Katie had a double maternity photoshoot, donning matching turquoise dresses in 2016. Recognizing the opportunity for an unforgettable moment, they recently recreated the photoshoot, upon the suggestion of their photographer, Brenden Boggs from So Cute Photo. The resulting pictures are simply delightful and perfect.
Corey shared her experience of going through the wild journey of pregnancy alongside her sister and close friend, and how her daughter Ryatt and niece Indie have already formed an unbreakable bond for life.
“It was my sister’s third baby and my second, and we didn’t plan it at all, actually. A couple of days before Christmas in 2015, I mentioned, ‘Oh, I think I might be pregnant,’ and she said, ‘Well, go take a pregnancy test.’ It came back positive. And a few minutes later, my sister said, ‘Well, you won’t believe this, but I am pregnant too, and I was planning to surprise the family.’ So, we ended up surprising everyone on Christmas and revealing that we were both expecting. It was truly awesome.”
“Initially, we were a few weeks apart. I was scheduled for a repeat C-section, and her due date was around August 10th, with my C-section planned for two weeks later. On the morning my sister was about to deliver Indie, I went into labor. Since we had the same doctor, she told me, ‘Why don’t you come in? You’re going to see your sister anyway. We’ll check you out, and if you’re in labor, I’ll perform your C-section today.'”
“We went in to start my C-section when the nurses rushed into the room, grabbing the doctor. She ran out to catch my niece, Indie. My sister ended up delivering just 15 minutes before me. We ended up having the same hospital, the same doctor, and even adjacent rooms. Our babies’ cribs were placed right next to each other in rooms 2209 and 2210.”
“Being pregnant at the same time as my sister was one of the most incredible experiences. We still can’t believe how lucky we were to share that journey together. It was comforting to have each other’s support for the weight gain, the aches, and the pains. It made the whole experience even better. It probably helped our relationships with our husbands too because we could vent to each other instead of constantly bothering them. Since we are already very close, this just made our bond even stronger. I can’t imagine getting pregnant again without her!”
“One of the best things was the post-birth recovery. It was wonderful to share and understand what she was going through — the sleepless nights and everything else. One thing that meant a lot to me was that Ryatt had difficulty breastfeeding, but my sister produced an abundance of milk. She supported me with my milk supply and helped me increase it.
